Albert Abner Reaves, 90, of Greenwood, MS, died on Saturday, October 21, 2017 peacefully at his home. Services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at the West President Church of Christ.  Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time.  Mark Shiers will officiate.

Mr. Reaves was born on May 5, 1927 to Joseph Renfroe Reaves and Emma Styers Reaves. He was a member of the West President Church of Christ where he served as an Elder for 25 years.

He grew up in College Hill, MS, just outside Oxford. He attended Lipscomb College and proudly served his country in the Navy.  Mr. Reaves was devoted to God and his family. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman, and enjoyed carving decorative decoys during his retirement.

He began his career climbing poles with Southern Bell in 1948 and retired from management in 1989. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and also served as Council President.  He was a member of the Kiwanis International and served on the Board of Directors of the Sunny Brook Children's Home.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Billy J. and Jackson Reaves; sisters, Sue King and Mollie Greene, and granddaughter, Emily Gurner.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Ellanor Hedleston Reaves; sons, Woodie Reaves (Irene) of Terry, MS, and Windie Reaves (Carol) of Greenwood; daughters, Gaye Barnett of Brandon, MS, and Joye Reaves of Greenwood; grandchildren, Kerri Grossman (Glen), Shannon Reaves-Perry, Winn David Reaves, Memrie Tucker (Jonathan), Kelly Lamb (Jeremy), Ryan Hodges and Steve Robison (Susie), 11 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, you may contribute to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or Sunny Brook Children's Home. Wilson and Knight is in charge.
