Ann Claire Thomas Phillips, 85, of Greenwood died Friday, April 24, 2015 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Desoto in Southaven. Memorial services will be Monday, April 27, 2015 at 1 p.m. at St. John's United Methodist Church. Visitation will be noon until time of the service at the church. Dr. Billy Ray Stonestreet will officiate at the services. Wilson & Knight Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Phillips was born December 29, 1929 in Electric Mills, MS to Clanton H. Thomas and Mabel Vass Thomas. She was a graduate of Macon High School in Noxubee County, MS, and the University of Southern Mississippi. She was an active member of St. John's United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and served in various leadership roles for many years. She was an avid gardener and bridge player. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Mrs. Phillips is survived by her husband of 67 years, Dr. Shelley H. Phillips of Greenwood; two daughters, Debbie Gipson of Vicksburg, Teri White and husband Rob of Greenwood; and her son Gary Phillips of Hattiesburg. She is also survived by four grandchildren; Kirk Gipson and wife MarLa of Memphis, TN, Eden Gipson Stanton and husband Drew of Montgomery, AL, Ashley White Murray and husband Glenn of Memphis, TN, and Spencer White of Memphis, TN. Her two great-grandchildren are Charlotte and Bethany Stanton of Montgomery, Al.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. John's United Methodist Church.
