Services for Barbara Corder Belk will be held Wednesday, May 1, 2019 2:00 PM graveside in Odd Fellows East Cemetery.
Mrs. Belk, age 75, died on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at University Medical Center in Jackson.
Barbara was born on May 18, 1943 John H. and Inez White Corder in Ashley County, AR, and resided in Greenwood the past 56 years. She was a graduate of Mississippi Delta Community College, where she was on the dance team, and was elected Miss. MDJC in 1963, along with being voted class friendliest, best personality, and sophomore class favorite. She was a member of North Greenwood Baptist Church and retired from Staplcotn as an executive secretary after 24 years of service. She is preceded in death by her parents, and a son, Parrish Allen Belk.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, James Belk of Greenwood, MS; son, Neil (Michelle) Belk of Byram, MS; two sisters, Claudia Newton of Yazoo City, MS, and Marilyn Corder of The Colony, TX.; and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Wilson & Knight Funeral Home in Greenwood. Dr. Jim Phillips will officiate the services.
Memorials may be made to Leflore County Humane Society and Lebonheur Children's Hospital in Memphis, TN.
