Bennie Coleman Reid, 88, of Teoc, Mississippi, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday morning October 18, 2016. He died peacefully at home after an extended battle with cancer. Services will be Friday October 21, 2016 at 1:30 pm at Wilson and Knight Funeral Home.
Mr. Reid was born in Dossville, Mississippi, to William Arthur and Lilla Poole Reid on December 17, 1927. He served in the U.S. Army in the late 1940's. After his stint in the military, Coleman went to work for Norris Bookbinding Company where he retired as a co-owner after 59 years.
He was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. He was a Master Mason and member of the Grand York Rite Bodies of Mississippi and the Wahabi Shriners. He also called square dances throughout the state for many years. He was an avid archer and held multiple state titles over the years.
Mr. Reid was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-one years, Sarah Alice; his parents; five brothers, Royce, Jimmy, Larry, Donald and Jacky Reid, and a son, Bennie C. Reid, Jr.
He is survived by two sons, William C. "Bill" Reid (Donna) and Robert D. "Donnie" Reid (Mandy); one daughter, Julia R. Miller (Richard); twelve grandchildren and twenty-five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at Wilson and Knight Funeral Home from 12:00 pm until service time Friday.
