Bernice Lezzette Matthews, 78, of Coila died Saturday June 21, 2014 at Golden Age Nursing Home. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Coila. Visitation will be 5p.m. to 7p.m. Monday, June 23, 2014 at Wilson & Knight Funeral Home and 10:30 a.m. until service time Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Rev. Larry Edwards will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery in Coila. Wilson & Knight Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Matthews was born on February 12, 1936 to Johnnie and Thelma Acy. She was preceded in death by her husband Jessie Matthews, her daughter Jennifer Matthews Alford and her brother Hollis Acy. Mrs. Matthews worked at Medart and then as a shipping clerk for Balkamp before her retirement. She enjoyed spending time with her family.
Mrs. Matthews is survived by two sons Johnny Matthews of Kissimme, Florida and Mark Matthews and his wife Donnie of Black hawk and her daughter Pam Matthews Melton and her husband Ricky of Black Hawk. She is survived by one brother Marcus Acy of Brandon and a sister Louise Robertson of Black Hawk. She is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Scott Matthews, Eric Matthews, Wade Matthews, Chris Holly, Wayne Blaylock, J.D. Shaw and Jeremy Bertrand.
