Billie Jean Hightower Chapman

Services for Billie Jean Hightower Chapman will be held Wednesday, June 17, 2020 9:00 AM graveside in Itta Bena Cemetery.

Mrs. Chapman, age 90, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 15, 2020 at Golden Age Nursing Home in Greenwood, MS.

She was born on January 15, 1930 in Leflore County, MS, to the late William Linwood and Annie Zell Pollan Hightower. She was the retired co-owner of Itta Bena Building Supply and an active member of Itta Bena First Baptist Church. She loved playing bridge, bingo, and gardening. She was a former member of Itta Bena Women's Club, and Obera Garden Club. She was a loving mother and Mimi. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ben Chapman, Jr.; two sisters, Mary Elizabeth Smith and Annie Charles Fondren; and two brothers, Gove Hightower and Linwood Hightower.

She is survived by her two daughters, Judy Diane Burchfield of Itta Bena, MS, and Patsy Jean (Phil) Kelly of Itta Bena, MS; sister, Virginia Lou Andrews of Bedford, TX; five grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Rev. Ricky Wheat will officiate the services. Pallbearers will be Ray Brasel, Michael Bussey, Jr., Michael Bussey III, Hayden Lawyer, Brooks Lawyer, and Don Toomey. Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of Itta Bena First Baptist Church.
