Services for Billy Carroll Safley will be at 2 p.m. Friday, January 26, 2024 at Wilson and Knight Funeral Home in Greenwood, MS, with Chaplain Howard Beam officiating.  Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery.

Billy Carroll Safley of Philipp, passed from this life on Sunday, January 21, 2024 in his home at the age of 91.  He was born on June 25, 1932, in Monette, AR, to TJ and Sybil Safley.  As a loving devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, he enjoyed spending time with his family. He enjoyed 69 years of marriage to his late wife, Helen Safley.

Due to of his love for his country, Billy devoted 20 years of active duty and 10 years in the reserve of the U S Navy. He had the opportunity to travel all over the world. After retiring from the Navy, he moved back to Philipp and farmed and later began his career as a crop adjuster.

Billy is survived by his children, Walter Safley (Teresa), Sharon Safley, Vicki Knighton (Roy), Vivian Raner (Shelton), and Richard Safley (Jennifer); 13 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Even though he left so many behind, he is now joyfully reunited with those who preceded him in death.  Including his loving wife, Helen Safley, parents, TJ and Sybil Safley, and his granddaughter Nicole Safley.

Pallbearers will be Jason Parish, Blake Safley, Michael Safley, Reece Raner, Shane Riter and Timothy Fox.
