Services for Billy Rosamond Tate will be held Wednesday, June 1, 2022 10:00 AM at Mt Olive Baptist Church in Coila, MS.

Mr. Tate, age 79, died on Sunday, May 29, 2022 at Baptist Hospital in Jackson.

He was born on December 19, 1942 in Greenwood, to the late Robert Lee Tate, Sr. and Ollie Meriwether Tate. He was a member of Mt Olive Baptist Church and retired from Coca-Cola and Golden Age Nursing Home. He loved MSU Baseball and to hunt and fish. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bonnie Walker Tate; two brothers, Albert Watson Tate and Robert Lee Tate, Jr.; and three sisters, Elizabeth Tate Perry, Irene Tate Baugus, and Margie Tate Galey.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Holeman Tate of Sidon, MS; two daughters, Susanne Tate of Lowell, AR, and Stephanie Tate of Greenwood, MS;  granddaughter, Jodie Lynn (Bishop) Logan of Greenwood, MS;  stepdaughter, Deadra (William) Browning of Winnsboro, LA;  stepson, Callaway (Pam) Harris of Carrollton, MS; three step grandchildren, Carol Harris, Morgan Alford, and Dustin Harris; five great grandchildren; five step great grandchildren; special nephews, Jerry Galey, Bob Tate, Michael Galey, Matthew Galey, Brad Galey, Colby Galey, and Jason Galey; and a niece, Jennifer Marshall.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Wilson & Knight Funeral Home in Greenwood.  Rev. Kenny Roberson will officiate the services. Pallbearers will be Bob Tate, Michael Galey, Matthew Galey, Brad Galey, Colby Galey, and Bishop Logan, Jr. Burial will be in Mt Olive Baptist Church.
