Bobby Eugene
Everett Sr.
Feb 20, 1941 — Feb 5, 2023
Bobby Eugene "Gene" Everett, Sr., of Greenwood, MS, born February 20, 1941, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday February 5, 2023.
He is survived by his three children, Bobby Everett, Jr. (Kathy), Gay Everett Mangum (Jim), and Susan Everett Floyd (David). He is also survived by two sisters, Billie Mae Lang of West Point, and Christine Alderman of Clinton; his grandchildren, Amanda Wier (Brad), Noah Carpenter, David Bratton (Ann), Adam Hodges (Taylor), Kacey Reeser (Tyler), Trey Everett, Lindsey Floyd, and Tyah Mangum; his great grandchildren, Hunter Wier, Taylor Bratton, John Clayton Bratton, Logan Reeser, Rowan Everett Reeser, and Mary Hastings Hodges; and a special great niece, Hartlee Walker. He is preceeded in death by his wife, Gloria Taylor Everett; and his parents, Billy and Frances Everett of Money; a brother, Tommy Everett of Grenada; and a granddaughter, Kaley Floyd.
He worked for many years as a propane truck driver for Scott Petroleum and eventually retired from Gresham McPherson Oil Company. He was a loyal and devoted family man to his wife and three children, eight grandchildren, and six great grandchildren for over sixty years. He loved hunting, especially with his son, son-in-laws, and grandsons. He also enjoyed attending his grandchildren's and great grandchildren's sporting events, but nothing gave him more pleasure than spending as much time as possible with his wife of sixty years and his family.
He was a good honorable man that would do anything he could to help anyone in need. He was the kind of man that always showed kindness to others, and to know him was to love him. He will be greatly missed by all that loved and knew him. He was a Christian and a member of Phillipston Baptist Church and also attended Christ Baptist Church in Greenwood. May he rest in peace with the Lord.
Services will be held at Wilson and Knight Funeral Home on Thursday, February 9, at 11 AM with visitation starting at 10 AM. Rev. James Cheatham will officiate. Interment will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery.
