Bobby Wayne Mims passed away Thursday, January 22, 2026, leaving a legacy of faith, service, and devotion to family.

Bob was born to Willie and Lois Mims on February 25, 1948, in Coila, MS. He graduated from Leflore County High School and Northeast Louisiana University.

In August of 1969, Bob married the love of his life, Sonna Jean Callens Mims, affectionately known as Babe. They were happily married for over 56 years.

He was the founder of multiple companies including Preferred Builders, Inc., Dandy Storage, and Holcomb Portable Buildings.

As a visionary, Bob took a gamble in the early 80s and originally bought 62 acres and over the years bought more land on the northern most part of Carroll County and established Sonnadale Farms where he raised cows and horses. His hobbies included flying planes, hunting, fishing, and spending time with family at the lake and on the farm. He enjoyed Atlanta Braves baseball and Ole Miss Rebel sports. He played church softball, chaperoned many of his children's high school band trips, and treasured time spent with family.

He was a member of the West President Church of Christ, where he served as both deacon and elder, and more recently worshipped with the Old Union Church of Christ. He served on the Board of Directors for Sardis Lake Christian Camp and Magnolia Bible College, reflecting his lifelong commitment to Christian education and service.

Bob and Sonna are the proud parents of four children. He was lovingly known as "Pop" to thirteen grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. He is survived by his children: Clif and Kristi Mims of Arlington, TN, Clay and Nina Mims of Henderson, TN, Chad and Beth Mims of Bentonville, AR, and Christa and Kris King of Starkville, MS; along with his grandchildren: Zak, Zaylee, Zeb, Dylan (Ayriel & Wren), Hunter, Colt, Jake, Landon, Blakely, Tyler, Bryson, Kaylee, and Kayden.

Bob was the baby brother to Betty Cook, Bonnie and Ralph Kerschner, and Willie "Billy" and Mattie Mims. He was a beloved brother-in-law of Jerry and Debbie Callens, Robin Callens, and Paul and Renea Callens.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie L. and Lois Mims of Coila, MS; his father and mother-in law, Robert and Mary Ellen Callens of Greenwood, MS; and his sister and brother-in-law, Bonnie and Ralph Kerschner of Huntsville, AL.

Jerry Callens will officiate the services. Pallbearers will be Dylan Lankford, Zak Mims, Tyler King, Zeb Mims, Hunter Mims, Bryson King, Colt Mims, Jake Mims, and Landon Mims.  Honorary Attendants will be his favorite baby girls, his granddaughters, Zaylee Mims, Kaylee King, Kayden King, and Blakely Mims.

Honorary Pallbearers will be John Cook, Ronald Cook, Ernest Cook III, Jim Cook, Ralph Kerschner Jr., Ricky Mims, Kevin Mims, Paul Callens, Neal Callens, and his many friends from West President Church of Christ, Old Union Church of Christ, Preferred Builders, Dandy Storage, and Holcomb Portable Buildings.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Bobby W. Mims to the Old Union Church of Christ Cemetery Fund at 516 County Road 310, Carrollton, MS 38917 or Christian Family Services at 2720 SW 2nd Ave. Gainesville, FL 32607.

Bobby Wayne Mims will be best remembered for his quiet, steady faith and generous heart, purposefully recognizing and nurturing the strengths and gifts of others, and living a life of service, love of family, and selfless generosity toward all in need.

Wilson & Knight Funeral Home of Greenwood, MS, is in charge of arrangements and Old Union Church of Christ in Carrollton, MS, is where he will be buried.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 8, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and on Monday February 9, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Wilson and Knight Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Old Union Church of Christ Cemetery.
