Bonnie Holly Hodges was born on March 13, 1948 and died on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson as a result of heart failure. Services will be 2p.m. Saturday, October 26, 2013 at North Greenwood Baptist Church with visitation in the church sanctuary 12:30p.m. until service time. Norman Thomas and Raymond McKinion will be officiating and interment will be in Itta Bena Cemetery.
Mrs. Hodges is preceded in death by her husband of 45 years Price H. "Buddy" Hodges III, a daughter Bonnie Michelle Hodges and her father James Leon Holly. She was born and raised in Greenwood and has since lived in Coila for the past thirty-eight years. She worked at Greenwood Utilities for six years before long term employment at the Greenwood Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation office where she retired after thirty-five years of service in 2005. During her time at the ASCS office she was honored with a national award for outstanding departmental service. Following retirement she worked part-time as an administrative assistant at Advanced Rehabilitation. Mrs. Hodges will best be remembered for her infinite love and devotion to her family and grandchildren as well as her life- long sacrifice to anyone in need.
Mrs. Hodges was a member of Sidon Baptist Church for over thirty-five years and later attended New Hope Baptist Church where she was a member for three years. She was very active with the Alzheimer's Association.
Mrs. Hodges is survived by a daughter, Heather Suzanne McKinion and her husband Raymond McKinion of Brandon and a son Price H. "Trey" Hodges" IV and his wife Mignon Nelson Hodges of Greenwood. She is also survived by five grandchildren that she adored, Nelson and Izabelle Hodges, Jake ,Meri Ruth and Katie McKinion. Her mother Mary Louise Holly, sister Carolyn Ann Thomas and three brothers Jimmy Holly, Frank Holly and Johnny Holly.
Pallbearers will be Chris Holly, Rusty Holly, Jim Holly, Mark Thomas, Peyton Holly, and Allen Thomas.
Memorials may be made to Garden Park Alzheimer's Association or the American Cancer Association or a favorite charity.
