Services for Carl Edward McLean will be held Wednesday, October 10, 2018 2:00 PM at Wilson & Knight Funeral Home in Greenwood, MS
Mr. McLean, age 91, died on Sunday, October 7, 2018 at Providence Memory Care in Grenada, MS.
He was born on January 2, 1927 to the late Edward Newton and Mary Annis Stephens McLean in Itta Bena and resided there most of his life. He was a graduate of Mississippi State University, attended First Baptist Church in Itta Bena, and was a member of The Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge # 118 where he served as recording secretary and also served as Grand Master of the State. He retired from the Social Security Administration after 26 years of service. He served in the US Navy Armed Guard during WW II and as a medic in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Bervie Pace McLean, 6 sisters, and 4 brothers.
He is survived by his two daughters, Sandie (Gerald) Gregg of Winona, MS, and Penny (Phil) Dudley of Water Valley, MS; son, Jerry (Laura) McLean of Indianola, MS; six grandchildren, Amber (David) Lindsey of Oklahoma City, OK, Barry Gregg of Winona, MS, Donavan (Mary) Gregg of Biloxi, MS, Charee (Michael) Woods of Grenada, MS, Landon (Brittany) Frazier of Grenada, MS, and Ashlee Frazier of Lamar, MS; nine great grandchildren, Chase (Allison) Williams of Winona, MS, Coty Williams of Winona, MS, Phares Gregg of Winona, MS, Laynee Claire Marchant of Starkville, MS, Aubree Woods of Grenada, MS, Sophia Gregg of Biloxi, MS, Collin Gregg of Biloxi, MS, Bryce Frazier of Grenada, MS, and Jace McLean Brigance of Lamar, MS; five great-great grandchildren, Gage Williams, Mary Presley Williams, Sulli Grace Williams, Taylor Williams, and Sawyer Williams, all of Winona, MS; and three sisters, Norma Cothran of Gulfport, MS, Willa Dean Brewerton of Peoria, IL, and Ollie Rose Hollis of Tupelo, MS.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Wilson & Knight Funeral Home in Greenwood. Rev. Higdon Herrington will officiate the services. Pallbearers will be Barry Gregg, Donavan Gregg, Landon Frazier, Chase Williams, Coty Williams, and Howard Holliman. Interment will follow in Itta Bena Cemetery.
