Carmen Sorrells Alford
Carmen was born March 6, 1943, to D.A. and Orma Sorrells in Pleasant Grove, MS. She graduated from Sardis High School and the Ole Miss School of Pharmacy and was a hospital pharmacist for GLH and Mobile General Hospital. She worked for a number of drug stores and was a consultant pharmacist for several nursing homes, including her beloved Golden Age for 36 years. She was a member of the MS Pharmacy Association and the MS Society of Consulting Pharmacists, serving as President for one term.
She was a member of Pleasant Grove Methodist Church and currently attended Moore Memorial UMC in Winona, MS.
She is survived by her husband, Mack; daughter, Audra Williamson (Tommy), and grandchildren, Cooper and Avery, all of Starkville; stepdaughter, Patty Funkhauser (Howard) and their son Daniel of Birmingham; and sister, Jo Anne Gideon (Charles) of Pueblo West, CO; sister in laws, Charlene Sorrells, Judy Sorrells, and Bobbie Sorrells; and many loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded by her parents, sisters, Margaret Callicott (Bill) and Nell Reid (Mark) and brothers, Bill, C.M. and Dan.
Pallbearers will be Joe Alford, Jr., William T. Sorrells, Jr., Danny Sorrells, Scott Sorrells, Andy Dilatush, and John Dilatush. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Gnemi, Larry Reynolds, Billy Reed, and Larry Makamson.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
Rev. John Kramer and Dr. Tommy Williamson, Sr. will officiate. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2019, at Wilson & Knight Funeral Home in Greenwood, MS, and Thursday, Feb. 7, 2019, 10:00 a.m. until services at 11:00 in the chapel. Interment following the services will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Carrollton, MS.
