Charles Haven "Chile" Hawkins, 93 died Sunday, January 19, 2014 at the Mississippi State Veterans Home in Kosciusko. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at Odd Fellows Cemetery. Rev. John Shackelford will officiate. Military Rights will be conducted by the Keesler-Hamrick-Gillespie American Legion Post 29 Honor Guard. Wilson & Knight Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Hawkins was born February 4, 1920 in Sunflower County to Henry and Eva Hawkins. He was a graduate of Drew High School and proudly served during World War II stationed in the Philippines. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Greenwood. He owned and operated City Radiator & Parts Company in Greenwood until his retirement. He was preceded in death by his wife Nell Hawkins.
He is survived by one daughter Judy Houston of Greenwood and two grandchildren Shannon Houston of Greenwood and Kimberly Houston of New York City and one great grandson his namesake Haven Houston of Greenwood.
