Greenwood
Charlene Cooper James, 69, of Greenwood died Tuesday, April 26, 2016,
at St. Dominic's Hospital in Jackson, MS. Services will be at 11a.m. Thursday,
April 28, 2016, at First Presbyterian Church, Greenwood, MS. Visitation will
be in the church parlor at 10a.m. until service time. Dr. Rusty Douglas will
officiate. Burial will be in Odd Fellows East Cemetery. Wilson and Knight
Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. James was born August 31, 1946, to Mrs. Pearl Cooper and the late
Charles Henry Cooper. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian
Church, the Presbyterian Women, and Explorers' Bible Study. She was
a life member of the Greenwood Junior Auxiliary, a member of the Greenwood Garden Club, and the Greenwood Country Club where she played on the
3.5 Women's Senior Tennis Team. She enjoyed playing bridge with her bridge
Club. For many years Mrs.James was employed as the Volunteer Coordinator
for the North Mississippi Girl Scouts. She was part owner and manager of
Crosstown Pharmacy and Gifts.
She was preceded in death by her son Jonathan Cooper James as well as
her father.
Mrs. James is survived by her husband of 48 years George W. James, Jr. of
Greenwood and her son George W. "Trey" James III of Greenwood, sister
Paulette Suber of Calhoun City, MS, and four grandchildren Kacie Lynn James
of Greenwood, George W. "Wade" James IV and Sara Love James of
Louisville, MS, and Hannah Marie James of East Tennessee.
Pallbearers will be Steve Lary, Hall Barret, Bill Gillespie, Heath Barret,
Ruble Harrington, and Bret Jones.
Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, Greenwood, MS.
