Obituary

Rev. Charles Minyard, a native of Greenwood, MS, passed away December 3, 2016, at the age of 76. Services will be held on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at the Wilson and Knight Funeral Home Chapel at 11 am with visitation from 9 to 11. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in North Carrollton, MS. Rev. Trey Harper will officiate the services. Wilson & Knight is in charge of the arrangements.

Rev. Minyard was born March 8, 1940 in Greenwood, MS, to Claude Aubrey Minyard and Mable Clara Johnston Minyard. He was a 1960 graduate of Greenwood High School and received his Bachelor's Degree from the University of West Florida. After proudly serving in the US Navy for 6 years, he received a calling into the ministry where he served Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Woodville, MS, Cottondale, AL, Falkville, AL and retired from First Christian Church (DOC) in Fort Walton Beach Florida. Rev. Charles had a passion for music and enjoyed singing in a barber shop quartet. He was a loving husband and devoted father, as well as a beloved pawpaw. Rev. Minyard was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Waymon Minyard, C.W. Minyard, and Melvin Minyard, and two sisters, Nellie Johnson and Lois Lee.

Rev. Minyard is survived by his wife, Frances Kenwright Minyard of Mandeville, LA; two daughters, Patti Anderson and husband Andy Anderson III of Mandeville, LA, and Stephanie Ward and husband Chad Ward of Leachville, AR; son, Charles Anthony Minyard of San Antonio, TX; brother, Robert Minyard of Terry, MS; ten grandchildren, Hannah Varnadore, Alexis Minyard, Hillary Anderson, Bradley Ward, Hayden Anderson, Spencer Minyard, Andy Anderson IV, Miquel Minyard, Katie Minyard, and Robert Minyard, and three great-grandchildren, Clara Beth Varnadore, Sophia Mandola, and Benjamin Varnadore.

Pallbearers will be Andy Anderson IV, Brad Ward, Steven Varnadore, Dillon Mandola, Robbie Minyard, and Dane Weathers.

Flower arrangements may be sent to Wilson and Knight and memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
