Clarice Barrentine Thompson, age 88, died peacefully Saturday, July 11, 2020. She had been a resident at Beau Ridge Memory Care in Ridgeland, MS. Clarice was preceded in death by her husband Lealon, 8 siblings, her daughter Janet, and son in law, Wilmer. She was born January 8, 1932 to Hubert and Clara Barrentine.

Our Mom passed on to Glory July 11, after struggling with Alzheimer's for the past 4 years, but did so with great strength and dignity. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. How blessed we all were. She was a friend to everyone she met and loved by all.

Clarice was wed to Lealon Lawrence Thompson at Centerville Baptist Church June 3, 1951. They had 3 children Terry, Tommy, and Janet. She is survived by her two sons, Terry (wife Joanne) of Brandon, MS, and Tommy (wife Kathy) of Newborn, GA, and half-sisters, Jo Ann Fish, Mary O'Dell, and half-brother, Malcom Barrentine of AR.

Clarice had 6 grandchildren, Amy Thompson DuBose (Husband Dustin) of Katy, TX, Reed Thompson (Wife Shannon) of Leander, TX, Mauri Smith (Husband Frasier) of Madison, MS, Stephanie Charles of College Station, TX, Jason Edwards of Denver, CO, Brannon Thompson of Covington, GA, and Ashley Thompson of Marietta, GA. She had 6 great grandchildren… Emerson Dubose, Reese Dubose, Sam Dubose, Hattie Smith, Yandell Smith, and Claire Thompson.

Clarice was a long time employee of Staplcotn in Greenwood. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Greenwood, and served her church faithfully. She was an avid seamstress, gardner, and homemaker.

The family will have a private graveside service in Sidon Cemetery, Thursday, July 16, at 11:00am.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in honor of Clarice be made to Beau Ridge Memory Care in Ridgeland, MS, First United Methodist Church in Greenwood, or The National Alzheimer's Association.
