David Horace Clark, age 86, passed away on Monday, August 22, 2022, at the UMMC Grenada Hospital.  Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 26, 2022 at Immanuel Baptist Church in Greenwood with visitation from 9 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow in the North Mississippi Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Kilmichael.

David was born in Arkansas City, Arkansas on June 8, 1936 to Horace Tillman Clark and Pearlie Pace Clark. A longtime resident of Greenwood, MS, David attended Greenwood public schools and joined the Air Force in 1955, serving twelve years and attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant with the 1 ^st Supply Squadron before being honorably discharged. His military career included assignments at Perrin Air Force Base, Texas, Wheelus Air Base, Libya and Selfridge Air Force Base, Michigan. While serving, David received the Air Force Longevity Service Award with 2 Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters, The National Defense Service Medal and the Air Force Good Conduct Medal. Following active duty, he served in the Air Force Reserves until 1983 holding the rank of Master Sergeant.

He and his wife owned and operated service stations for over twenty years, the last three of those years they worked on Fridays cooking barbeque for special events before deciding to cook full-time with Clark's Bar-B-Q.  His reputation as a barbecue master earned him the moniker "The Bar-B-Q King." After twenty years of satisfying customers with great food and service, they retired but continued to cook on special occasions for friends and Immanuel Baptist Church events where they were longtime members.

David was an avid outdoorsman and in his last days enjoyed riding his side-by-side or lawnmower around his land with his dog Jack at his side. He loved feeding the native wildlife, birds, and deer and would would make special trips to County Market to pick up whole rotisserie chickens for Jack, who was spoiled with warm meals each day.

David was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Lorea Clark, his parents, brother, Charlie Clark and son, Ronald David Clark.  He is survived by his son, Roy Keith Clark of Greenwood, MS; daughters, Anna Clark Thornton of Laurel, MS, and Tracy Clark Pickett of Oxford, MS; grandchildren, Lisa Thornton Dotson (Drexter), Jody Thornton (Anna), Anna Katherine Pickett Christian (Chad), Shara Clark, KC Clark, Jr., Marisa Clark, Bella Clark; brothers, Carl Clark, George Clark and Bobby Clark (Judy) all of Greenwood, MS; six great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post #29.
