David Alexander Kosko, 48, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS. A visitation will take place at Wilson and Knight funeral home Saturday, January 29 ^th from 4:00-6:00 pm. A worship service and celebration of David's life will be held on Sunday at 1:30 pm at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Greenwood, MS, followed by a private family graveside service at Kea Cemetery on the family farm "Willingwait" in Carrollton, MS.

David is survived by his parents, Paul I. Kosko and Elizabeth Pittman Kosko of Greenwood/Carrollton, MS; his three brothers and sisters-in-law, John Herrington Kosko (Kendy) and their children, Eliza Kate, Caroline and Louis Kosko of Hattiesburg, MS; Paul Alexander Kosko (Mamie) and their children, Bailey, Garrett and Mary Mullins Kosko of Oxford, MS; and Mark Gill Kosko (Susan) and their children Kate, Ward, Claire and James of Ridgeland, MS; and his aunts, uncles and cousins, all of whom he loved in his special way. David was preceded in death by his grandparents, David Morris Pittman, Mable Clare Pittman, Myrtis Gill Pittman, John Wesley Kosko, and Helen Ward Kosko; his uncle Jim Kosko, aunt Myrna Kosko, and uncle Mike Smith; and his cousins Jimmy Kosko and Kathryn Boykin Pittman.

David was born in Jackson, MS, on February 22, 1973. Growing up, David enjoyed his time at Little Red School House, Bankston School, and Pillow Academy in Greenwood, followed by his later years within the network of North Mississippi Regional Center in Oxford and Bruce, MS, and more recently at REM in Oxford. David loved many simple things in life. He always enjoyed riding bikes and would frequently be seen riding down Grand Boulevard in Greenwood, MS, with his mother and brothers as a child. David was a beloved covenant child, and God has received him into His Kingdom and for that we rejoice. David always enjoyed his Sunday school class and teachers as a little boy at Westminster Presbyterian Church where he could recite the Apostles' Creed without missing a word. He loved the beach, swimming, spending time at home in Carrollton and his activities at Vibes Day Program in Oxford. He enjoyed eating Doritos, Rotel dip, and shrimp prepared any way that Bubba from Forest Gump could prepare them (but especially fried or broiled with cocktail sauce). He also certainly kept Diet Dr. Pepper distributors in business. Benji , Old Yeller , Places in the Heart , and Footloose were some of his favorite movies enjoyed in his best pair of flannel pajamas which he usually donned no later than 4:00 pm any given day.

David was "special." In a unique sort of blessing and mercy, he never seemed to notice or at least never seemed to care that he was "special". His simple contentment was beautiful and was a great lesson to those around him. If he wasn't bothered by his challenges, why should anyone else be bothered by his challenges? David was David and his presence in the lives of those around him who loved him was perfect. He was loved by his family, his community, his church and by those who cared for him on a daily basis. Everyone who came in contact with David was made a better person simply by knowing him, and we are grateful for the years of wonderful memories. We cannot adequately thank the incredible staff at North MS Regional Center in Oxford and Bruce and at REM and Vibes in Oxford for the wonderful loving care they helped provide David over the past 25+ years. Your kindness to him will never be forgotten. We are also so grateful for the hundreds of people in Greenwood, MS, (including the faithful congregation at Westminster Presbyterian) who have continued to love on David and our family all these years.
