Services for Denise Mason Wilks of Schlater, Mississippi will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at First Baptist Church of Itta Bena, with visitation beginning at 12:00 p.m. Reverend Ricky Wheat will officiate and Bobby Whittington will provide music along with special music by Gavin Young and Jarrod Ives. Burial will follow in Itta Bena Cemetery.

Ms. Wilks went home to her Lord after struggling with multiple chronic illnesses. She was the daughter of Patsy & Mookey Vail and the late Bobby Hart Mason and was born on October 12, 1965. Her childhood years were spent playing and learning in the country side around Schlater, where she developed a love of searching for fossils and other treasures. She professed her faith in Christ as a young teen and was baptized at Schlater Baptist Church. Denise was proceeded in death by her father, Bobby Mason, and her sister, Angie Richardson.

Survivors include her three children, Michael Gavin Young (Ruthie) of Olive Branch, MS, Lauren Young Rucker (Woody) of Itta Bena, MS, and Jarrod Mason Ives (Katie) of Hot Springs, AR; and her parents, Patsy and Mookey Vail of Schlater, MS. Denise is also survived by her brother, Bobby Hart Mason II (Michelle), grandchildren, Marley Rucker, Mason Young, and Cole Young; nephew, Hunter Vail Richardson; nieces, Mary Hooper Mason and Christina Cain Mason; and special friends, Patricia Houston and Sharon Flynn.
