Diane Nichols Richardson, 82, of Greenwood, passed away September 22, 2015 in Grenada, Mississippi after suffering a stroke.
Funeral services will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church on Saturday, September 26, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Adam Szufel, OFM officiating. Burial will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Greenwood. Wilson & Knight Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
Mrs. Richardson was born in Binghamton, New York to the late Herbert F. and Ann Nichols on January 14, 1933. She graduated from Binghamton Central High School. She married the late William S. Richardson Jr. on June 9, 1951 and they moved to Greenwood in 1956. Ms. Richardson was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. She was a member of the Le Bonte Women's Club and the Town and Country Garden Club. Mrs. Richardson spent three years working in the English department at Greenwood High School and twenty-four and a half years as an administrative secretary at the Region VI Mental Health Center in Greenwood. She enjoyed tennis, playing the piano, reading and scrapbooking.
Mrs. Richardson was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William S. Richardson Jr., her brother Bud Nichols and her sister Patricia Jesson. She is survived by her sons William S. Richardson III and wife Andrea Richardson of Grand Junction CO, John Kevin Richardson and wife Sandra Wright of Winston-Salem NC, Jimmy Richardson and wife Dana Richardson of Texarkana AR, and her daughter Linda Strider and husband Lawrence Strider of Philipp MS. Mrs. Richardson is also survived by five grandchildren, Claire Strider Jones, Mary Catherine Strider, Kristen Richardson, Kelsey Richardson and Spencer Richardson, and newborn great-granddaughter Avery Claire Jones.
