Dorothy was born on December 31, 1955, to the late Thomas Dewitt Organ and Anne Duke Organ. She worked for the Mississippi Department of Health and for the Carroll County Sanitation Department for a number of years, and she was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Milton Earl Prewitt; grandson, Garrett Jones; and a sister, Teresa Hopper.
Her grandchildren recall, "The woman that never failed to put a smile on their face no matter what. Everyone knew her as Dot Dot, but to us, she was our Grammie! We love big, but I promise she loved you bigger. She never met a stranger, because everyone loved Dot Dot. She loved her girls so deeply, but there's something about her grandkids (she always had McDonald's money.) Even on her worst days she was there to support her family."
She is survived by her two daughters, Monica Prewitt Jones and husband Kenny of Carrollton, MS, and Lauren Prewitt Beck and husband John of Carrollton, MS; sister, Jane Didlake and husband Pat of Carrollton, MS; four grandchildren, Kendi Brook Jones, Anna Lauren Jones, John Lane Beck, and Meri Milton Beck; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Scott Beck, Rusty Carpenter, Nathan Carpenter, Rusty Holly, Eric Haddon, Colby Newman, and Michael Haddon. Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Holly and Eli Haddon.
Memorials may be made to Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, 9633 CR 100, Carrollton, MS 38917 or Mt Pisgah Cemetery c/o Barbara Sheppard 4488 CR 73, Carrollton, MS 38917.
