Earl Clinton White, 81, of Greenwood, Mississippi, passed away on December 5, 2023, at Bolivar Medical Center in Cleveland, Mississippi. Earl was born on June 28, 1942, in Greenwood, Mississippi, to the late James and Annie Mae White. He was preceded in death by his brother, James A. "JW" White, Jr.
Earl graduated from JZ George High School in 1961 and later earned an associate degree in Drafting from Holmes Junior College. His passion for architecture led him to pursue a bachelor's degree at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He was a member of Centerville Baptist Church.
After college, Earl began a land clearing business where he enjoyed operating bulldozers. Alongside his late brother, he later established White Brothers Farms in the Teoc community, a row crop farm where he cultivated cotton, corn, soybeans, and wheat. His love for farming extended throughout his life as he never officially retired. Today, his legacy lives on through his son, who continues the family farming operation as Delta's Edge Planting Company.
Beyond his dedication to farming, Earl had a multitude of hobbies that brought him immense joy. In the late '90s, he began collecting classic cars, evolving into numerous restoration projects. He was an avid fisherman, enjoying day trips to the Mississippi River in the Myersville area in pursuit of large catfish. Earl was also a passionate duck and deer hunter. He took pride in growing acres of watermelon and cantaloupe, selling them to grocery stores across the Delta and peddling them from his truck around the Greenwood area. Earl had an engaging personality as he never hesitated to strike up a conversation or share a joke with his customers.
Earl is survived by his wife, Joyce P. White, and his son Clint White of Greenwood, MS, his daughter, Anna W. McCoy (Derek,) and one grandson, Hayden Hughes of Brandon, MS, his sister, Shirley Grantham of Greenwood, MS, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
