Services for the Rev. Eddie Frank Roberts will be held Saturday September 20, 2014 11:00 AM at First United Methodist Church in Greenwood, MS 38930
Rev. Roberts, age 93 died on Tuesday September 16, 2014 at Golden Age Nursing Home of Heart Failure
He was born on March 19, 1921 in Union, MS to the late Rev. John and Louisa Cummings Roberts and resided in Greenwood the past 22 years. He was a graduate of Millsaps and Emory School of Theology. He preached his first sermon April 6, 1947 near Caledonia, MS. He pastored several United Methodist Churches in north Mississippi. He served as the Minister of Pastoral Care at First United Methodist Church and later was named the Pastor of Emeritus. He served in the U.S. Navy during WW II serving in the South Pacific. He was a member of Civil Air Patrol, Lions Club and The American Legion Post #29.He is preceded in death by a brother Paul D. Roberts and two sisters, Dena Richardson and Ruth Yarbrough.
He is survived by Wife, Miriam Wilson Roberts of Greenwood, MS, Daughter, Rosemary (Dean) Vail of North Carrollton, MS, 3 Sons, Eddie Frank (Carole) Roberts, Jr of Vero Beach, FL, John Guy (Lisa) Roberts of Miami, FL, Wilson Paul (Natasha) Roberts of The Woodlands, TX, Sister, Jamie Ruth Hall of Traverse City, MI, and 14 grandchildren
Visitation will be held on Saturday September 20, 2014 09:00 AM to 11:00 AM at First United Methodist Church in the Russell Annex. Rev. Brad Hodges and Rev. Glen Seefeld will officiate the services. Pallbearers will be Bill Cook, Robert McBride, Jan Verhage, Donny Whitehead, Tom Hardin, Fred Hooper Honorary Pallbearers will be The Men's Bible Class. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Wilson & Knight is in charge. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church or Methodist Senior Services.
