Edith Slaughter Streeter , 96, of Greenwood, MS, died Monday, March 27, 2017 at Indywood Glen Personal Care. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, March 30, 2017 at Odd Fellows Cemetery. Rev. Tony Franks will officiate. Wilson & Knight Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
She was born on September 30, 1920 to Jesse and Ethel Slaughter in Holcomb, MS. Her family moved to Greenwood, MS, when she was four years old. She graduated from Greenwood High School in 1937 and then attended Draughon's Business College. She was employed at Supreme Instruments Corporation where she met and married Robert Streeter in 1945. After raising three children, she was employed by Greenwood Utilities and retired from there in 1982.
Mrs. Streeter was a member of the Lebonte Women's Club, the Garden Club and the National Federation of Music Club. She sang in the choir at First Baptist Church for many years. She enjoyed playing bridge and was an expert seamstress. She is preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Willard Slaughter, and her husband, Robert Streeter.
She is survived by a son, Robert Streeter Jr., of Las Vegas, NV; two daughters, Jessye Streeter Whitis of Belton, TX, and Linda Streeter Sellers of Grenada, MS, and four grandchildren.
