Edward Elson Wiggins, 97, of Greenwood died Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at Crystal Health & Rehab. Services will be at 3p.m. Friday, February 28, 2014 at Wilson & Knight Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Dr. Rusty Douglas. There will be a one hour visitation starting at 2 p.m prior to the service and the interment will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery.

Mr. Wiggins attended public school in Greenwood and graduated high school in Eupora. He served in the Army during World War II and after which he moved to Memphis, TN where he was trained in the cotton business and worked for Dunavant Cotton Company. He moved to Greenwood and established Provine Sabin and Wiggins Cotton Company. He was an avid tennis player and was city champion, he also played golf and was a duplicate bridge player. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Greenwood County Club and Greenwood Cotton Exchange. Preceded in death by his parents Dr. and Mrs. Carl Wiggins, his sisters Lillye Maude Wiggins and Martha Wiggins Geeslin and her brothers Evan Wiggins and William John Wiggins.

Mr. Wiggins is survived by his wife Helen Horton Wiggins of Greenwood and daughter Helon Horton Wiggins of Greenwood. He is also survived by his nieces, Peggy W. Muse of Oxford, Judy W. Sanders of Jackson, Trude Powers of Greenville and Cindy Goza and her husband Danny of Greenwood. He is also survived by nephews Bill Geeslin and wife Jackie of Jackson, Billy Wiggins of Daytona Beach, FL and George Chamberlain of Oklahoma.
Pallbearers will be John Muse, Doug Muse, Scott Upchurch, Charles Wright, Steve Rosenthal, and Benjamin Rosenthal. Honorary pallbearer will be Robert L. Ritchey, Jr.
