Emma Sue Jones Scott passed away December 21st, 2013, at the Greenwood Leflore Hospital following a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Scott was born November 13th, 1936, in Hattiesburg to her parents, Henry Lee and Nina B. Jones. Later, her family moved to Richton, MS where her parents established the Jones Funeral Home.
She is preceded in death by her brother, Tommy Lee Jones. She has one surviving brother, Frank Harold Jones, married to Ann Jones of Richton. Also, sister-in-law, Ruth Jones of Ellisville, and a surviving husband of fifty-four years, John "Steve" Scott. From their marriage, Mrs. Scott has three surviving sons and their wives, along with four grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, and four step-great-grandchildren.
Her eldest son, John Stephens Scott of Itta Bena, married to Jan Scott, has three step-children, John Malouf Jr. of Madison, Chase and Todd Bradford of Biloxi, and Justin and Parrish Malouf of Madison. Stephen and Jan have four grandchildren, John Malouf III, Doty Malouf, Knox Bradford, and Lilly Marie Malouf.
Stan Scott, Mrs. Scott's second son, is married to Andrea Lee Scott of Destin. Together they have two children Andrew Scott and Alexandria Lee Glass.
Mrs. Scott's youngest son, Stacy Scott is married to Cemper Carpenter Scott. They reside in Mendenhall with their two children Cayla and Grycen Scott.
Mrs. Scott attended MSCW before transferring to The University of Mississippi from which she became a teacher in Greenwood, where she met her husband John "Steve" Scott.
Mrs. Scott and her husband lived together in Itta Bena and Greenwood for thirty years. During this time, her husband was a partner in Scott Petroleum and pursued many farming interests.
Mrs. Scott was not only a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, but an avid member of the community. She loved her church and she was a member of the Greenwood Garden Club. An accomplished woman, she enjoyed gardening, sewing, painting, playing the piano, and cooking.
Visitation will be Monday, December 23, 2013 at the First Presbyterian Church from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Services will follow visitation at 11:00 AM and will be led by Dr. Rusty Douglas. Entombment will follow at Odd Fellows Mausoleum in Greenwood, MS. Pallbearers will be Grycen Scott, Andrew Scott, Solon Scott III, Dr. Henry Jones, Dr. John Jones, Walter Jones.
The Scott family extends our deepest expressions of thanks to the Greenwood Leflore Hospital and their staff. They were wonderful in our time of grief.
