Obituary

Flossie Marie Overley Acy, 82, of Blackhawk, MS, passed peacefully at her home on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 surrounded by her family. Services will be at 11:00 a.m.  Saturday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Greenwood. Visitation will be from10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Rev. Hilary Brzezinski, OFM will officiate. Interment will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery in Carroll County.

Mrs. Acy was born January 14, 1943 in Gueydan, Louisiana, to Earnest Loyd Overley and Mayme Scanlan Overley. She moved to Greenwood in the late 1950's where she graduated from Greenwood High School and met the love of her life, Bobby. They married May 5, 1961 and later settled in Winona, where they raised their four children. Flossie was a devoted parishioner of St Thomas Catholic Church in Lexington.

Throughout her lifetime, she enjoyed cooking and gardening, playing Pokeno and Bridge, and spending time with her family and friends.

She is recently preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Bobby Ray Acy; sister, Irene Overley Peeples; brothers, Robert "Woody" Overley, Kenneth "Kenny" Overley, and Lloyd Overley. Survivors include daughters, Sylvia Acy Hamrick (Rob Farmer) and Kimberly Acy Young (Johnny) of Greenwood; sons, Raymond Acy (Michelle) and Barry Acy (Melissa) of Winona; sister, Loyce Upchurch Dykes (James) and sister-in-law, Ann Overley. She was also Mamaw to ten grandchildren, Katie Hamrick Atkinson, Hillary Acy Hays (Kim), Lee Flowers Hamrick, IV, John David Young (Courtney), Mayme Young, Regan Acy McClamrock (Josh), Dalton Acy, Hunter Acy, Payton Acy and Colby Acy; nine great grandchildren, Anna Flowers Hamrick, Landon Atkinson, Audrey Claire Toth, Maggie Atkinson, Wyatt McClamrock, Sydney Young, Wade Acy, Addie Harper Acy, Wallace Young; and a host of nieces and nephews whom she cherished.

Pallbearers will be Lee Flowers Hamrick, John David Young, Dalton Acy, Hunter Acy, Payton Acy and Colby Acy.
