In Loving Memory of Frances Witty Nix
October 26, 1959 – October 15, 2026
Frances Witty Nix passed away peacefully on October 15, 2026, surrounded by her loving husband of 47 years and her two loving sons.
She was born on October 26, 2026, in Greenwood, MS, to Fred Witty and Rosalie Pegues Witty. Frances lived in Greenwood her entire life and dedicated a large portion of her life to education. She was a graduate of Greenwood High School and Delta State University. She was very proud to return to Delta State University to earn her Master’s degree in teaching after dedicating a large portion of her life to her family. Her teaching tenure included teaching a variety of classes at Greenwood High School, Pillow Academy, and Holmes Community College in Grenada. She also enjoyed serving as cheerleader sponsor for many years at Greenwood High School and Pillow Academy. She was a faithful member of St. John’s Methodist Church, where she worshiped and grew in her faith. Her love for the Lord guided her life, and she found strength, comfort, and joy in her church family.
Frances lived a life filled with love, faith, kindness, generosity, and compassion. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, and teacher, and a cherished presence in the lives of all who knew her. She had many loving pets over the years and enjoyed helping take care of her family members’ pets. Frances will be remembered for her beautiful qualities, such as a welcoming smile, caring heart, sense of humor, unwavering faith, or willingness to help others. She found joy in playing tennis, playing bunko with her friends, watching her children and grandchildren play sports, traveling with friends, spending time with family at Spring Lake, and going on beach vacations with her family. Her love for her family and the values she instilled will continue to live on through the generations.
She was preceded in death by her parents Fred Witty, and Rosalie Witty.
Frances is survived by her loving husband, Mike Nix; her sons, Michael Nix (Meggan) and Justin Nix; her grandchildren, Kylee Nix and Karra Nix; and her siblings, Fred Witty (Mary) of Pace, FL, Rosalie Elia of Wake Forest, North Carolina, and Richard Witty (Nilda) of Laurel, MS.
Though our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we are grateful for the time we shared with her and the countless memories she leaves behind. Her love, wisdom, and legacy will forever remain in our hearts. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
