Frank Lawson Melton, 87 of Brazil, MS died Thursday, February 19, 2015 at Greenwood Leflore Hospital. Memorial services will be 3:30 p.m. Sunday, February 22, 2015 at Wilson & Knight Chapel in Greenwood, MS. Visitation will be 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, February, 22, 2015 at Wilson & Knight Funeral Home.
Mr. Melton was born July 31, 1927 in Stover, MS to Fred Lawson. and Myrtle Cummings Melton. He graduated from Webb Swan Lake High School and attended Northwest Mississippi Junior College and Delta State University.
Mr. Melton served in the Navy from 1945-1946, the Navy Reserve from 1946-50, the Army in 1952 and the National Guard in 1952.
Mr. Melton was a member of the Brazil Church of Christ and was a founding director of Strider Academy in Charleston, MS. He was an avid deer hunter and fisherman.
Mr. Melton is survived by his wife of 66 years June Jennings Melton of Brazil, MS daughters Vicki Yaeger (Roy) of Greenwood, Nanette Worsham (Roger) Charleston, Melanie Wolfe (Bert) of Charleston and son Frank Lawson Melton, Jr (Elizabeth) of Cleveland, MS, sister Maudine McNeer of Teoc, brothers Dillard D. Melton of Brazil, and Bobby Melton of Charleston.
He is survived by seven grandchildren Will Worsham (Aimee) of Batesville, Melton Worsham (Linda) of Hernando, Drew Worsham ( Micci) of Cleveland, MS, Van Wolfe ( Jennifer )of Charleston, Kris Wolfe ( Mae) of Charleston, Art Wolfe (Melissa) of Drew, and Victoria Melton of Cleveland, MS. He is survived by thirteen great-grandchildren.
