Greenwood, Mississippi – Frank Elmo Smith, Sr., 91 years young joined his wife Beverly Colvin Smith, on Thursday, April 18, 2024.  Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 23, 2024 2:00 PM graveside in Odd Fellows Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM till 2:00 PM Tuesday at Wilson and Knight Funeral Home.

Frank was born July 30, 1932, in Vance, Mississippi to Guy Elmo Smith and Mary Elma Roberts Smith. Frank was owner and manager of Frank's Flower Shop which serves Greenwood and the surrounding communities' floral needs since 1956. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Beverly Colvin Smith, and son Ralph Adair Smith.  He is survived by his family that will miss him dearly: daughter, Sherry Smith Leard and the late Michael Ross Leard; son, Frank Elmo Smith, Jr. and wife, Hillary; and son, Earnest Bart Smith and wife, Linda. Frank was a fun and loving eldest brother to John Smith, Ralph Smith and sister Clara Elizabeth who preceded him in death. Survived by his youngest brother George Smith and his wife Gloria; and sister Sarah Ann Robinson; sister in laws Anna Joyce Smith and Sheri Smith; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was "Grandaddy"to five grandchildren; Shana Leard Koch and husband Thurman; Robin Morrison and husband, Jason; Frank "Tripp" Elmo Smith, III and wife, Erin; Elizabeth Anastasia Monica Smith; and Patrick Daniel Smith and wife, Jenniffer. Frank was also blessed to be Great Grandad to T-Ray Koch, Alex Koch, Ella Kate Morrison, Liam Morrison, Sam Morrison, Frank Smith, Larkin Smith, and Edward Smith.

In 1950, Frank joined the United States Navy during the Korean War and was stationed at Newport Naval Base, Rhode Island.  Frank left the Navy in 1952 and returned to Mississippi to work for his Aunt May Simpson who ran a flower shop.  After a few months of working at his Aunt May's, Frank decided to use the Montgomery GI Bill to go to college at Mississippi State University to study Botany, Forestry, and Floral Design. Frank attended MSU for three years before leaving college to start his own flower shop in Greenwood, MS, named Frank's Flower Shop, serving as a pillar in the surrounding communities of Greenwood.  This legacy was passed to his eldest child Sherry Leard.
