George William James, Jr.

Services for George William James, Jr., will be held Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at 11:30 AM at First Presbyterian Church in Greenwood, MS.

Mr. James, age 72, passed away on Sunday, July 23, 2017 at his residence.

He was born on August 10, 1944 in Muskogee, Oklahoma, to the late Juanita Landreth and George William James, Sr. He was a graduate of Ole Miss School of Pharmacy and was a pharmacist for 44 years. He owned and operated Crosstown Pharmacy and Gifts in Greenwood, MS for 25 years. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Greenwood, MS. He served on numerous boards and civic organizations. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved salmon fishing in Alaska with his family. He was extremely proud of Native American heritage.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Juanita Landreth and George William James, Sr.; wife,Charlene Cooper James; son, Jonathan Cooper James; brother, Charles Warren James; and sister, Mary Elizabeth Browning.

George is survived by his son, George William James, III (Trey) of Greenwood, MS; two brothers, Jon (Joyce) James of Goodlettsville, TN, and David (Debra) James of Belzoni, MS; two sisters, Jessie (Hall) Barret of Belzoni, MS, and Anita (Rod) Patterson of White House, TN; four grandchildren, Kacie Lynn James, George William James IV (Wade), Sara Love James, and Hannah James; and mother-in-law, Pearl Britt Cooper of Duck Hill, MS.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM with the service immediately following at First Presbyterian Church in Greenwood, MS. Dr. Rusty Douglas will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Britt Bailey, Perry Bailey, Heath Barret, Spencer Barret,Kevin James, and Jim Suber. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ruble Harrington, Brett Jones, and Laney Littlejohn. Interment will follow in Odd Fellows East Cemetery.
