Services for George Carroll Young will be held Wednesday, March 28, 2018 2:00 PM at Wilson & Knight Funeral Home in Greenwood, MS.

Mr. Young, age 83, died on Sunday, March 25, 2018 at Grace Health and Rehab in Grenada, MS.

He was born on October 03, 1934 in Charleston, MS, to the late Jessie and Mae Bonds Young. Mr. Young was raised in Paynes, MS, and lived in Texas and Hattiesburg before moving to Itta Bena in 1971. He was the owner of Young's Grocery Store in Itta Bena and worked for the US Postal Service for ten years. Mr. Young was a US Army Veteran and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Itta Bena, where he served as a Deacon and Treasurer. He is preceded in death by his wife, Shirlene Newsome Young, and a daughter, Lex Anne Trotter.

He is survived by his daughter, Shea (John) Salley of Grenada, MS; son, Mark (Jeannie) Young of Byram, MS; seven grandchildren, and sixteen great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Wilson & Knight Funeral Home in Greenwood. Rev. Higdon Herrington will officiate the services. Interment will be in Magnolia Gardens in Paynes, MS. Military honors will be performed by American Legion Post #29.
