Grace Wyatt
Alderman
Dec 24, 1928 — Feb 21, 2020
Greenwood
Early Friday morning when we heard a bell ring, we knew an angel had received her wings.
Grace Wyatt Alderman , 91, peacefully parted the clouds and entered into Heaven, Friday, February 21, 2020. With her life's work here complete, her faith that Jesus would make her whole again and that she would be reunited with her beloved family, came to fruition.
Born one Christmas Eve on Mossy Island in Leflore County to Oscar Wyatt and Adeline Carter Wyatt, she was one of ten siblings.
Grace was educated in Schlater public schools. She was employed by Supreme Electronics until her retirement. A gifted seamstress, she had also worked at Evelyn's on Howard St.
She was a member of Greenwood Seventh Day Adventist Church.
A trip to her house, and a place at her table was not to be missed. When she learned you would be there for a visit, not only were you prepared a meal to be desired and remembered, "what would YOU like for me to cook?" is what she'd often ask. A visit home from college always meant that on your return to school she would've lovingly prepared a "Bodine" box, full of your favorite meals and treats.
To say that she was a gifted seamstress, is an understatement. She was a remarkable fabric artist. When family or friends would fall ill and saw their monetary resources running slim, she would sew up some of the most beautiful women's and men's vests, selling them throughout the region, sending the proceeds to those who had little.
She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Lester Alderman, parents, and siblings.
Left to cherish her memory and carry on a legacy of love and compassion are daughter, Penny Lessley and Walter Bechtler, son and daughter-n-law, Howard and Catherine Alderman, grandchildren, James Howard Alderman, Jr., Anna Katherine Alderman and Abby Bishop Alderman, all of Greenwood, and Dr. Scott Brown and wife Courtney Simpson of Longmont, CO, daughter, Jan Alderman and Deb Myers, and son-n-law, John Connor, all of Memphis, TN. She also leaves a loyal companion, her waggy-tail pup, Brooke Shields.
A memorial service will be held at 11 o'clock in the morning, Saturday, February 29 th at Greenwood Seventh Day Adventist Church, 2906 Hwy 82 East, with visitation to follow.
The family humbly requests that in lieu of flowers please make donations to Team Nick at Gofundme.com or to the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Wilson and Knight is in care of the arrangements.
