Obituary

Havis Truman Glover passed away at home on December 4, 2022 at the age of 93 surrounded by his family.   A graveside service was held on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in Centerville Cemetery officiated by Reverend Larry Shackelford.

He was born on June 17, 1929 in Star City, Arkansas, and later moved to Greenwood.  After graduation, he joined the army where he was stationed in Frankfurt, Germany, as a Master Gunnery Sergeant.  When he returned home, he and his father opened Glover's Sporting Goods where he served as a gunsmith for 45 years.

Havis enjoyed gardening, turkey hunting and was an avid fisherman. He served as the first President of the Greenwood Bass Club. His happiest times were spent fishing with his wife and watching their grandchildren and great grandchildren enjoy the outdoors in Carroll County.

Havis was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 68 years, Lanie Simpson Glover, his parents, Mary Lorean Owen Glover and Grace Truman Glover, one sister, Flolane Walker, and two grandsons, Warren Shawn Glover and Havis Paul Glover.

He is survived by one son, Randy Glover (Rosie); two daughters, Denise Glover Alderman (Kenny), and Cindy Glover Nix (Jeff); seven grandchildren, Hunter Alderman (Melinda), Casey Alderman (Jennifer), Hollie Alderman Long (John), Kendall Nix (Kristi), Lanie Nix Ables (Keith), Ashley Glover Myrick, and Havis Glover II (Meredith); and eleven great grandchildren, Austin Alderman, Emree Alderman, Drake Alderman, Colby Alderman, Bailey O'Dell, Bryce Ables, Jaelyn Ables, Mason Ables, Olivia Long, Allie Nix, and Havis Glover III

The family would like to extend a special appreciation to his caregivers/friends who cared so lovingly for Mr. Glover; Josephine Miles, Sadie West, Zipporah Leason, Fannie Johnson, and Lenda Summerville.

Pallbearers were his grandsons; Hunter Alderman, Casey Alderman, Kendall Nix, Havis Glover II, Austin Alderman, Colby Alderman, Bailey O'Dell, Drake Alderman, Bryce Ables, and Mason Ables

Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, Memorial Giving,       501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN  38105 or a charity of your choice.
