GREENWOOD MS – Hazel Duke McBunch, formerly of Baytown, Texas was born October 2nd, 1918 in Carroll County, Mississippi died on September 23, 2014. Hazel was the daughter of the late William Easley Duke and Dora Jackson Duke. Hazel graduated from Valley High School in 1938 where she was selected class poet. In 1942 she married Ellis McBunch and accompanied him to various Army bases prior to his departure overseas. In the late 1940's Hazel and Ellis moved to Baton Rouge Louisiana, where they remained until moving to Baytown Texas in 1962. In 2008, Hazel moved back to her beloved state of Mississippi, where she remained until her death. Hazel is preceded in death by her husband Ellis McBunch, her son Duke McBunch, Brothers, Willard, William, Grover, and Guy Duke. She is survived by son Bill McBunch and wife Jane of Annandale, New Jersey, Daughter Janice Gressett and husband Roland of Hamshire Texas. Grandchildren, Kevin McBunch, Kimberly Dillow, Joshua Gressett, Liz Gressett, Lee McBunch, and Jennie McBunch. Great Grandchildren, MaKayla and Dylan, Sisters Anne Organ, Dot Roberts and husband Bud. Numerous Nieces and Nephews and many close friends. Hazel was a member of the First Baptist Church of Baytown, Texas. Visitation will be at Wilson & Knight on Saturday, September 27th from 12:00 to 2:00 PM with services following immediately in the chapel at 2:00 PM. Following the Chapel service, internment will be at the Mt. Pisgah cemetery in Carroll County MS.
