Helen "Peggy" Tolbert Hammond, 91, formerly of Itta Bena and Greenwood, graduated into the presence of the Lord on January 25, 2019. Services for Mrs. Hammond will be 12:00 pm on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Wilson and Knight Funeral Home in Greenwood. Visitation will be from 11:00 am till 12:00 pm at the funeral Home. Interment will follow in Itta Bena Cemetery.

She was born February 12, 1928 to Walter Hickman Tolbert and Helen Rowell Tolbert of Laurel, MS, and was a graduate of Belzoni High School. She was married to Charles Jackson Hammond for 49 years and was a member of First Baptist Church of Itta Bena. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, and son, Charles Jackson Hammond, Jr.

She is survived by her daughter, Jackie Hammond Kuykendall of Collierville, TN; granddaughters, Elisabeth Hogue (Chris), Elaine Boyd (John), and Susan Solomon (Steven); brother, Walter H. Tolbert of Cleveland, MS; sister, Diane Tolbert McKee of Madison, MS; seven great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Chris Hogue, Jackson Hogue, Davis Hogue, Steven Soloman, John Boyd, and Reggie Sims.
