Services for Helen Bennett Tharpe will be held Monday February 01, 2016 11:00 AM at Wilson & Knight Funeral Home in Greenwood, MS
Mrs. Tharpe, age 85 died peacefully at her home on Saturday January 30, 2016.
She was born on August 01, 1930 to the late Sanford and Annie Ola Brigance Bennett in Montgomery County and has been a resident of Greenwood since 1951. She and her husband owned and operated Cherokee Equipment. She was a member of North Greenwood Baptist Church, L.L.L., and the Faith Sunday School Class. She is preceded in death by her husband John Thomas "Speedy" Tharpe, two brothers Gene Bennett, and James "Buddy" Bennett, and two sister Mary Alice Bennett, and Wilma Bennett.
She is survived by Son, Johnny Tharpe of Greenwood, MS, Daughter, Elaine Tharpe of Greenwood, MS, two Grandchildren, Kimberly Tharpe Oates, and Lawson Thomas Tharpe, three great grandchildren Alyssa, Autry, and Addey.
Visitation will be held on Monday February 01, 2016 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at Wilson & Knight Funeral Home in Greenwood. Dr. Jim Phillips will officiate the services. Pallbearers will be Kenny Thompson, Ray Makamson, Tim Kalich, Tommy Nason, Lawson Tharpe, and Trey Oates. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr John Hey, Henry Flautt Sr., Son Jordan, Robert Neely, Gene Henderson, Nelson Wong, Dale Morgan, Andy Holiday, Ronnie Moss, Ben Naron, George Jeffords, Bill Nations, Dustin Alford, Knox James, Gary McDonald, Tommy Ellett, and the Agape Sunday School Class. Burial will be at 2:00Pm Monday in the Gore Springs United Methodist Cemetery.
The family extends a special thanks to Bertha Scales, Mellissa Fulgham, the staff of Dr. John Hey, Stay Home Health and Oxford Health care.
