Henry Louis Gordon affectionately known as "Bro." has now claimed victory in Jesus.  Henry passed away at the Mississippi State Veteran's Home in Kosciusko on November 10, 2022.  He was 95.

Henry was born July 18, 1927, to Willie Hester and Hewitt Gordon.  He was predeceased by his parents and 4 siblings.  He was also predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Mary Lee Wood Gordon.

"Bro." proudly entered the United States Navy at 17.  Although the war ended shortly after he entered, he served until his commission expired whereas he returned to Mississippi and entered college.

He was a proud graduate of Mississippi State University where he lived in "Pole Cat" of Old Main men's dormitory.  It was at MSU he was introduced to his past time passion...golf.

Upon graduation he entered his business career of employment with several entities before finding his dream job...working for himself.  He and long-time friend, Bobby Hugh Spivey partnered together to establish Service Auto Parts.  Upon success of the business, he was able to retire early to pursue his passion for golf, turkey hunting, assisting friends and neighbors and serving his church.

"Bro." was an avid hunter beginning at a very young age.  He hunted quail, ducks, squirrels, deer and his favorite...turkey.  He hunted throughout Leflore and Holmes Counties and was a former member of Parker-Gary Hunting Club in Issaquena County.  He loved to point out places that he had "bagged" his prey.

To say golf was his passion would be an understatement.  He couldn't wait to get to the golf course every weekend and a couple of times during the week.  Retirement allowed him to play to his heart's content.  He was a member of Holmes County Country Club where he was the club champion several times.  He had an extremely competitive nature, he played until 91 only to stop because he couldn't stand being in any place other than 1 ^st in his given flight.

"Bro." was a member of Cruger Baptist Church where he served as Sunday School Superintendent.  He also served on the Mississippi Baptist Convention Board.  Part of his ministry in retirement was printing and delivering The Ten Commandments signs.  He put out hundreds of these signs.

A soft-spoken man, a humble man, a believer of his Lord but his greatest accomplishment was as a Daddy.  He is survived by his daughter, Suzy Johnson, a sister-in-law, Barbara Gordon, and a number of nieces and nephews.  He will be greatly missed.

A graveside service will be held at Pinecrest Cemetery Saturday, November 19, 2022, at 11am.  The pallbearers will be his nephews Tommy Gordon, Kenny and Neil Turner, and Tate Wood.  Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Hugh Spivey, Buck Harris, Dickie Collins, Tom Robertson, Terry Wiggins, Tommy Watkins, Jay Cutts, Rob Farmer, Service Auto Employees, Wesley Wright and Dr. Michael Boler.
