James Edward Barrentine, 93, of Greenwood, MS, passed away Friday, February 23, 2024 at Golden Age Nursing Home. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Monday in Odd Fellows Cemetery with visitation 9 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Wilson & Knight Funeral Home. Rev. David Bartlett will officiate.

He was born March 23, 1930 in Greenwood, MS, and resided there all his life. He retired from Piggly Wiggly as a meat specialist after 25 years. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He was a Golden Glove Boxer while in high school, and he also played football at Greenwood High School. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janie Cain Barrentine; sons, Jimmy Barrentine and Bobby Cain Barrentine; and his parents.

He is survived by his sons, Paul Barrentine (Beverly) and Mike Barrentine (Betty Jo), both of Greenwood, MS; four grandchildren, Angel Streater (Matthew), Michael Barrentine (Casey), Mitch Barrentine (Nicole), and Brent Barrentine (Sarah); eleven great grandchildren; and two great -great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Brent Barrentine, Michael Barrentine, Jake Streater, Mitch Barrentine, Cole Lake Streater, Dax Barrentine, and Wood Barrentine.
