James R. Pearce, Jr., much better known as Buddy, passed quietly at home in Columbus, MS, on Tuesday, morning, April 5, 2022.

Buddy, a lifelong resident of Greenwood, is survived by a sister, Laura Ellen Pearce Wilson of Columbus, MS; brother, William "Bill" Pearce of Burns, TN; two nieces; two nephews; and four grand nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, James "Jim" Pearce, and his mother, Lena Hardin Pearce, of Greenwood.

Buddy, a graduate of Greenwood High School and Mississippi Delta Junior College, worked at various occupations, mainly construction.  He was last employed at Lawrence Printing Company. The family wishes to thank the good folks there for their many kindnesses shown during Buddy's struggle through ALS. An avid fisherman and hunter, Buddy loved the outdoors and his associations with fellow woodsmen and his fellow NASCAR fans.

A visitation celebrating Buddy's life is planned at Wilson & Knight Funeral Home in Greenwood for Saturday, April 9th, 2:00 PM—4:00 PM with a private graveside service afterward. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The ALS Foundation (donate.als.org).
