James William Downing (Jamie) of Morgan City, MS, died Thursday,

March 23, 2017 at Golden Age Nursing Home. He was born December

12, 1924 in French Camp, Mississippi. He graduated from French

Camp Academy, was a WWII veteran and farmed many years before his retirement.

Jamie was a member of the Morgan City Presbyterian Church, Morgan

City, Mississippi and where he also served as an elder. He was

preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Juanita Robinson Downing his parents, James Davis and Aila Threalkill, and a number of siblings. He is survived by his sons, James D. Downing (Clare) of Salome, Arizona, Sam A. Downing (Mary) of Katy, Texas, Ben S.

Downing (Kay) of Morgan City, Mississippi, Joe B. Downing (Pam)

of Houston, Texas, and Bill R. Downing (Laura) of Seneca, South Carolina. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be Monday, March 27, 2017, 11:00 AM at

French Camp Cemetery. Rev. Larry Littlejohn and Rev. Glen Barlow
