James Sidney “Jimmy” Henderson, 97, of Greenwood, Mississippi, died September 14, 2026, at his residence. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday September 16, 2026, 2:00 p.m. at Wilson and Knight Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until service time. Father Don Chancellor will officiate the services. Interment will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery

Mr. Henderson was born August 14, 1929 in Weir, MS, to the late Abner Pink Henderson and Mary Alice Fair Henderson. After graduating high school, he joined the Army to serve his country during the Korean War. He attended college at Morehead State where he found his love for the construction business. He turned this into a career as a developer that served him well during his life. He enjoyed flying and was an avid golfer in his spare time.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Mabyline Switzer Henderson, and his daughter, Charlotte Henderson.

He is survived by his daughter, Corinne Henderson Abney of Savannah, GA; grandchildren, Holt Lowe of Greenwood, MS, and Evan Cowart and her husband Ryan of Savannah, GA; and seven great-grandchildren, Jill Taylor Lowe, Madelyn Lowe, Crews Lowe, Jackson Lowe, Emma-James Cowart, Mary-Alan Cowart and Lucy-Fair Cowart.

Pallbearers will be Jim Campbell, Ryan Cowart, Jimmy Lott, Lance Mohamed, Harris Powers and Kenny Thompson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Crews Lowe and Jackson Lowe.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to The Baddour Center in Senatobia, MS.
