James Alex "Jimmy" Mims, Jr., 77, of Carroll County, Mississippi, died Sunday, January 12, 2025 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson. Services will be held Wednesday, January 15, 2025 2:00 PM at Wilson and Knight Funeral Home with visitation from 12:00 PM until service time. Rev. George Mims will officiate the services. Interment will follow in Valley Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Mims was born September 17, 1947 to the late James Alex Mims, Sr. and Ruth Edna Mims. He was a lifelong resident of Carroll County and a member of Valley Hill Church. He was self-employed all his life and was a very hard worker. He loved his dogs, family, friends, a good game of checkers and farming. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Peggy S. Mims, and a son, Kenny Mims.

He is survived by his wife, Carla Mims of Greenwood, MS; two sons, Jamey (Julie) Mims of Winona, MS, and Johnny Mims of Greenwood, MS; three daughters, Peggy Jo (Jamie) Tanksley of Greenwood, MS, Loralee (Lee) Fletcher of Carrollton, MS, and Shannon (Michael) Estrada of Cookeville, TN; sister, Betty Lindsay of Kosciusko, MS; grandchildren, James Alex Mims IV, Justin Mims, Jimmy Mims, Jonah Mims, Joey Mims, Steele Mims, Alex Tanksley, Preston Fletcher, Cole Fletcher, Pierce Fletcher, Kenneth Mims, Wynne Mims, Mary Lindsay Mims, Maggie Jo Smith, and Jada Mims; and eight great grandchildren.

His grandson's will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Pete Buchanan, Danny Clark, Mike Touchstone, Sam Rustom, Ray McCluskey, Dodd Lindsay, and Ryan Lindsay.
