James Alden Langley, 90, of Greenwood, MS, died of complications from a heart attack and pneumonia on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at the Mississippi Veterans Home in Kosciusko, MS. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday, August 28 at Odd Fellows East, Greenwood, MS.

Mr. Langley was on the computer forefront working with International Business Machines (IBM) in 1962. He graduated from Mississippi State University with a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering. He was born in Louise, Mississippi, in 1936 to Allen Leahman Langley (Wayne County, MS) and Neva Mavis Cotten Langley (Sallis, MS). He joined the U. S. Army in 1954 and was discharged honorably in 1962. He also was a member of the 101st Airborne Division, U S. Army. He was the recipient of a Good Conduct Medal.

James married Jean Sue Carroll, of Hollandale, MS, on May 10, 1956, which was his mother’s birth date. They were married for 62 years until her death in 2018. He is also preceded in death by his youngest daughter, Diana Lynne Langley Goode; great grandson, Julian Derenger Conway, and brother, Gene Arthur Langley.

He is survived by two daughters (twins), Deborah Mitchell (Jim) of Gulfport, MS, and Donna Switzer (Richard) of Starkville, MS; grandchildren, Courtney De Leon of Chicago, Ill, Jameson Mitchell of Birmingham, AL, Grayson Mitchell of Gulfport, MS; William MacNeill (Jennifer) of Brandon, MS, Barton James MacNeill of Sturgis, MS, Adrianne Bailey Conway (Josh) of Greenwood, MS; Anna Goode Thomas (Bobby) of Madison, MS, and Ross Mitchell Goode, III, of Greenwood, MS; and great grandchild, Jacob Conway of Greenwood, MS.

Pallbearers will be Will MacNeill, BJ MacNeill, Ross Goode, Josh Conway, Bobby Thomas, Jim Mitchell, and Jameson Mitchell.

Wilson & Knight Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
