James Harold Wilburn Sr. (Harold), 90, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 25, 2022 at Indywood Glen Personal Care in Greenwood, MS.  Visitation will be held on Sunday at Wilson and Knight Funeral Home from 1:00 PM until service time at 2:00 PM with Rev. George Mims officiating.

Harold was born in Greenwood, Mississippi, on September 27, 1931, to the late James Wiley Wilburn and Etta Commela (Smith) Wilburn and resided in the Sidon / Phillipston area the majority of his life.  He married his beloved wife Margie Lindsey Wilburn on September 15, 1951, in Sidon.  On November 5, 1951, he began nobly serving his country in the United States Army at the age of 20 during the Korean War.  He was stationed on the front line in the 25 ^th Infantry Division.  He was honorably discharged as a Sergeant August 4, 1953 and accepted a job at the Buckeye Oil Mill in Greenwood. After 44 years of proud service in the cotton seed oil mill business he retired as the Superintendent from Planters Oil Mill / Yazoo Valley Oil Mill.  Harold was also a landowner and farmer in Phillipston, where he grew cotton and soy beans.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman throughout his life.  Harold was willing to attempt almost any job and was almost always successful with the endeavors working hard to support his family.

Mr. Wilburn was a member of Phillipston Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and Men's Sunday School teacher.  He was also a Dixie Youth Baseball coach.

He was predeceased by his parents; son, James Harold Wilburn, Jr.; sisters, Hazel Anderson and Mary Ann Tanksley; and brother, Robert E Wilburn.

Mr. Wilburn left to cherish his memory, his devoted wife of 71 years of marriage, Margie Lindsey Wilburn; son, Frank Wilburn and wife Pam of Hoover, AL; two granddaughters, Casey Cole (Mark) of Hoover, AL, and Haley Shackelford (Clint) of Jackson, MS; and three great-granddaughters, Locklin Cole, Carrington Cole, and Blakely Shackelford.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Sidon Cemetery Association c/o Tommy Lindsey, P.O. Box 175 Sidon, MS 38954.
