Janet Ann Bernet, 83, died Sunday January 5, 2014 at Indywood Glen. Funeral services are 11 A.M. Wednesday Jan. 8, 2014 at St. John's United Methodist Church with Rev. Billy Ray Stonestreet officiating.

Janet was born in North Manchester, Indiana to Harold and Carrie Creager Wright, graduated from Central High School in North Manchester as valedictorian of the class of 1948, attended Manchester College and subsequently enrolled for three years of nurses training at the Indiana University Medical Center at Indianapolis where she met and married Dr. Carl Bernet. They married in New Orleans, LA during his pediatric residency. After a year in Jacksonville, FL and a year in Denver, CO they moved to Greenwood to begin his pediatric practice.

She was a member of the St John's United Methodist Church, was a Sunday school teacher, Superintendent of the Junior Dept, member of the Board of Trustees, Board of Education, Pastor Parish Relations Committee, Finance, Administrative Commission and a member of the Steward's Sunday School Class.

She was a former member of the LeBonte Women's Club, the DAR, Town and Country Garden Club and the Leflore County Medical Auxiliary. She was a member of the Greenwood Garden Club, was a life member of the Junior Auxiliary where she was past president, served as both Brownie and Girl Scout leaders as well as Den Mother to two Boy Scout Troops.

Mrs. Bernet is survived by her husband, Dr. Carl P. Bernet, Jr., two daughters, Beth Hays of Madison, MS, Nan Bush and her husband Daryl of Teoc, MS, two sons, Christopher K. Bernet of Oxford, MS, Carl Philip Bernet, III and his wife Vicki of Magnolia, TX, seven grandchildren, Callie B. Moser of Oxford, MS, Kati Coates of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Carl Philip Bernet, IV of Denver, CO, Rebecca Huffine of Houston, TX, Heather Hays of Madison, MS, Margaret Bernet of Magnolia, TX, Taylor Bush of Teoc, MS and one Great grandchild, Wyatt Coates of Calgary,Alberta Canada.
