Tchula, MS: Janet Thompson Edwards, 52, passed away Thursday May 29, 2014 at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, MS. Funeral services are 4 P.M. Sunday June 1, 2013 at First United Methodist Church of Greenwood with interment in Sidon cemetery. Rev. Brad Hodges and Rev. Glenn Seefeld will officiate. Visitation is from 2-4 Sunday in the Russell building of 1st United Methodist Church.

Janet was a native of Greenwood and had been a lifelong resident of the area currently residing in Tchula. She was a graduate of Greenwood High School and received her degree in Nursing from MS Delta Community College. She was a member of 1st United Methodist Church and also a member of the circle seven group. Janet was an avid tennis player who also loved bowling and softball. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Wilmer Edwards, Jr., her daughter Mauri Edwards Smith and her husband Fraiser of Greenwood, MS, her mother Clarice B. Thompson of Greenwood, MS, a step-daughter, Stefanie Edwards Charlos and her husband Chad of Montgomery, TX, a step-son John Jason Edwards and his wife Amanda of Denver, CO, two brothers, Terry Thompson and his wife Joanne of Brandon, MS, Tommy Thompson and his wife Kathy of McDonaugh, Ga, her granddaughter, Hattie McLeod Smith of Greenwood and 5 step grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Phil Deaton, Robbie Upchurch, Gary Tingle, Doug Phillips, Jeff Hardin, Bob Singh, and Charles Wright. Honorary pallbearers are Spooky Bearden, Russ Lewis, Dr. Kenny Hines, Mickey Childress and Garry Roark.
