With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Jerelyne Ellis, who departed this life on July 31, 2025.  She passed away in her home after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by loved ones.

Jerelyne was born on October 8, 1949, in Greenwood, MS, to Winnie and Warren Holman.  She grew up in Blackhawk, and dedicated over 30 years of her life to working for Staplcotn.

She had a heart that welcomed everyone. She never met a stranger—her kindness, warmth, and genuine interest in others made everyone feel like family. Whether it was a smile, a listening ear, or a helping hand, she gave of herself freely and fully.  Above all, she loved her family deeply and unconditionally. Her greatest joy was being surrounded by those she held closest, her family and friends.

Jerelyne is survived by her sons, William Ellis and Tracy Ellis; sister, Joyce Tate; brother, Frank Holman; granddaughter, Kirsten Crain; and great grandchildren, Wyatt and Layni Crain.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025 9:00 AM until 10:30 AM at Wilson and Knight Funeral Home. Immediately following will be a graveside service at 11:00 AM in Mt Olive Cemetery. Br. Wilton Neal will officiate the services.

Jerelyne will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Though our hearts are heavy, we are grateful for the time we shared and the love that will endure.

Pallbearers will be Kit Colvin, Daniel Crain, Breland Ellis, Gavin Ellis, Keefe Brewer, and Calloway Harris.
