Jerry Glenn
"Rocky" Steen
Nov 4, 1961 — Mar 30, 2017
Greenwood
Jerry Glenn "Rocky" Steen, Jr. passed away peacefully March 30, 2017 at the age of 55. Rocky was born November 4, 1961 in Greenwood, MS, to Jerry Steen, Sr. and Cecelia Holbrook Steen.
Rocky graduated high school from West Tallahatchie High School in 1979, where he was a stand-out football player. He was also a graduate of Delta State University. Rocky was owner and president of JJ Ferguson Companies and Satrel Farms, LLC.
Rocky was an avid hunter and fisherman. He passed his passion and love of the outdoors onto his sons, with whom he hunted and fished every chance he could. When he was not hunting and fishing with the boys, Rocky could be seen cheering on his daughter on the softball field. Even though Rocky was a successful businessman, he would tell you that his children were truly his greatest accomplishment.
Rocky attended First Baptist Church in Greenwood. He was a long-time supporter of the NWTF, Ducks Unlimited and Pillow Academy.
He is survived by his wife, Shannon Boyles Steen, one daughter, Sara Elizabeth Steen, two sons, James Tristian Steen and Eli Jeffords Steen, all of Greenwood; his parents, Jerry and Cecelia Steen of Philipp; one brother, Billy Craig Steen (Margaret) of Clarksdale; niece, Courtnee Dunlap of McCarley; three nephews, Anthony Steen of Miami, FL, Glenn Williams of D'Lo, and Steen Williams of Byhalia; in-laws, Harvey and Shirley Boyles of Shaw; and a special friend that helped take care of him in his time of need, Lexie Buchanan of Philipp. He is preceded in death by a sister, Terri Steen Williams.
